The authors propose a numerical solution of boundary element equations of negative order one, arising from exterior boundary value problems. For this purpose, they introduce variable substitutions to the single layer potential equations such that the order of the pseudo-differential operator is changed from minus one to plus one. The resulting linear system of boundary element equations is solved by a multigrid method.
