This work is intended to outline some results in the field of differential geometry and dynamical systems that were presented by the participants at the ``Seminar on Modern Geometry and Its Applications'' organised by A.T. Fomenko. The key word that connects the different subjects that are presented in the three sections of the paper is the term ``orbit''. Therefore, Section 2 presents a classification of Lie algebras with generic coadjoint orbits in dimension 2. Next section is devoted to orbits of linear representation of Lie group and Morse theory, while the last section deals with the generalised Bertrand problem and closed orbits.
