Cournot tatonnement and potentials (Q492880)

The author considers the existence of Nash equilibrium points and the convergence of so-called Cournot tâtonnement (best response) processes for noncooperative games in metric spaces. The main assumption is the existence of a suitable potential, i.e. a transitive preference relation, which is concordant with the improvement path. The author shows the necessity of additional continuity-type properties for resolving the above questions. The results are illustrated by some special classes of games and several examples.
