Mathematical techniques based on dual matrices and screw algebra have been used to study a lot of problems in rigid body mechanics and multibody mechanical systems. In the present paper, Bertrand offsets of the ruled surfaces in view of their dual representation are examined. As a limit position of closed ruled surfaces, similar theorems and results on the theory of closed space curves are found. The theorems of Fenchel and Barbier are reproved and the result is illustrated by computer-aided examples.
