The author considers the inverse problem for the heat equation in the case when the heat-conduction coefficient is an unknown function of the temperature. An algorithm for solving this problem based on the methodology of rapid automatic differentiation is proposed. Examples that demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach are given.
