The author constructs an interesting Zariski pair, consisting of two plane curves of degree 12 with 30 cusps each, having the same Alexander polynomial, but being distinguished by a height pairing. For doing this, the Alexander polynomials are related to the Mordell-Weil rank of an isotrivial family of Jacobians.
