The paper deals with a kind quasilinear second-order hyperbolic systems. First, the author proves assertions of existence and uniqueness of the semi-global \(C^2\) solutions. Three cases are singled out, each corresponding to a specific structure of eigenfunctions of the elliptic operator. Then, the author proves local exact boundary observability theorems for all the cases. The proofs are performed with a constructive method.
