The reduction of the wave equation to a symmetric system has a certain importance in connection with solving boundary value problems. The paper focuses on the reduction of the wave equation with three dimension space variable to a so-called Friedrichs symmetric hyperbolic system. Conditions under which the obtained system is \(x_0\)-Friedrichs symmetric hyperbolic are pointed out. There are also some comments in connection with the Lorentz transformation of the obtained system.
