Let \(K_1\subset K_2\) be finite extensions of \({\mathbb Q}_p\). The authors construct a Markov process \(\{X(t)\}\) on \(K_2\) whose natural projection \(\{T(X(t))\}\) to \(K_1\) is again a Markov process, where \(T(x):=\frac{1}{[K_2:K_1]}\text{Tr}_{K_2/K_1}(x)\).
