    Let \(G\) and \(H\) be groups of invertible complex \(n\times n\) matrices. \(G\) is said to be an \(H\)-like group if every member is similar to a matrix from \(H\). An \(H\)-like group is called strongly \(H\)-like group if it contains the set \(H\). The following two questions are considered for several groups \(H\): (A) Is every \(H\)-like group (simultaneously) similar to a subgroup of \(H\)? (B) Is \(H\) the only strongly \(H\)-like group? For example, the authors answer question (B) affirmatively for the cases of symmetric group, the group of unitary matrices, the group of (nonnegative) monomial matrices and the group of general stochastic matrices.
