The author proves that, under a number of technical conditions, a bijective mapping between \(C^*\)-algebras is a \(C^*\)-algebra isomorphism. Practically the same result and proof for Lie JC\(^*\)-algebras have appeared in the author's paper [J. Lie Theory 15, No. 2, 393--414 (2005; Zbl 1091.39006)] and its verbatim copy [Bull.\ Braz.\ Math.\ Soc.\ (N.S.) 36, No. 1, 79--97 (2005; Zbl 1091.39007)].
