The author presents a new method for the numerical integration of a certain class of functions with guaranteed error bounds. The functions may be uni- or multivariate, but they have to be constructed by the usual operations (addition, multiplication, division, concatenation) from the classical elementary functions. The integration algorithm is based on the concept of so-called zone functions which, in a way, can be interpreted as a sort of interval arithmetic applied not to the integrand function itself but to its (suitably defined) generalized inverse.
