    Vorgelegt wird ein System von \(n\) linearen Differentialgleichungen erster Ordnung \[ \frac {du_i}{dx} +\sum _{k=1}^n g_{ik} (x) u_k=0 \quad (i=1,2,\dots,n) \] unter den \(n\) Randbedingungen \[ \sum _{k=1}^n a_{ik} u_k (a) +\sum _{k=1}^n b_{ik} u_k (b) =0 \quad (i=1,2,\dots,n) \] (\(a_{ik}, b_{ik}\) Konstanten), kurz \[ PU=0, \qquad W_a U(a) +W_b U(b) =0, \] wo \(P\equiv (p_{ik})\) die Matrix mit \(p_{ik} =g_{ik} (x)\) bei \(i\neq k, p_{ii}=\frac {d}{dx} +g_{ii} (x)\), ferner \(W_a \equiv (a_{ik}), W_b \equiv (b_{ik}), U\equiv (u_i); i,k=1,2,\dots,n\). In Verallgemeinerung einer von \textit{J. M. Whittaker} für \(n=1\) gegebenen Definition (1032; JFM 60.0394.*) wird das Produkt der Operatorsysteme \(P, W_a +W_b\) und \(Q, Z_a +Z_b\): \[ PQU=0, Z_a U(a)+Z_b U(b)=0, [W_aQ] U(a) +[W_b Q] U(b)=0 \tag{*} \] gebildet. Verf. zeigt, daß die \textit{Green}sche Matriz des Produktsystems (*) durch das Produkt zweiter Art der \textit{Green}schen Matrizen der Komponentensysteme gegeben ist. Unter anderem wird ferner eine Lösung des inhomogenen Systems für \(n=1\) und beliebige Ordnung mittels der Lösungen der Komponentensysteme hergestellt.
