Ein Kollektiv mit zwei Merkmalen \(x, y\) besitze eine normale Korrelationsfläche. Verf. bildet die größe \(v = y : x\), die er Index nennt. Es gelingt ihm, den strengen Ausdruck für die Verteilung von \(v\) zu ermitteln. Daraus gewinnt er eine einfache, für die Praxis meist ausreichende Näherung. An einem ausführlichen Beispiel werden die Anwendung und die Reichweite dieser Formeln klar gemacht.
