    Verf. verwendet zur Trendberechnung Funktionen der Form \[ y \text{ bzw. } \log y = a + bx + c\cdot\text{arctg } x + d\cdot\text{arctg } (\alpha x+\beta ), \] wobei die Konstanten nach der Methode der kleinsten Quadrate bestimmt werden. Bei passender Wahl des Nullpunktes und der Einheit von \(x\) ergeben sich überzeugend gute Trendlinien, vor allem in den Fällen, in denen die rationalen Funktionen versagen.
