Die Anwendung der Methode der kleinsten Quadrate setzt unter anderm voraus, daß die Abweichungen der tatsächlichen von den errechneten Werten normal verteilt sind. Verf. untersucht mit Hilfe der \(\chi^2\)-Methode experimentell-statistisch, für welche Abweichungen (absolut, relativ in bezug auf Beobachtungs- bzw. errechneten Wert, logarithmische Abweichung) diese Voraussetzung am ehesten erfüllt ist.\ \ (IV 16.)
