This paper concerns a moving boundary-value problem with spherical symmetry corresponding to a shrinking-core model describing a chemical reaction. The problem is studied here through a Bergman-type series expansion yielding a small-time solution, which is then used as the starting point for the numerical approximation. Numerical results in particular for the time of complete reaction are presented.
