The author considers the second order nonlinear differential equation (1) \(x''=f(t,x,x')\), (2) \(Bx=r\) when the existence of a pair of lower and upper solutions is assumed. He deals with the construction of the extremal solution of it by a monotone iterative method. It is assumed that the equation (1) is fully nonlinear and the boundary condition (2) is linear of Sturm-Liouville type.
