The problem of assuring fault tolerance in modular control systems via nonsearching, self-tuning systems is examined. A method for making nonstationary estimates of systems reliability is proposed that takes adaptation processes into account. Equations are derived that describe the changes in system reliability when a given method is used and indexes of fault tolerance are proposed.
