The problem of optimally controlling an oilfield as a multivariable system having the criterion of maximum oil recovery considering thermal effects during the development period is examined. The article is in two parts. The first part solves the problem of identifying an oilfield model under nonisothermal conditions. Optimal control methods are examined in the second part. Each part of the article is independent.
