This paper contains brief discussions of quite well known material on Fredholm integral equations of the first kind, some of the classical algorithms for the computation of singular values and singular vectors and elementary aspects of parallel computing. The authors also report on the speedup obtained when the algorithms are implemented on a four- processor NEPTUNE system.
