This paper presents the distribution of bursts is obtained, as defined by \textit{R. T. Chein} and \textit{D. T. Tang} [IBM J. Res. Dev. 9, 292--293 (1965)], for a linear code. Burst distribution of a coset of a linear code has also been obtained.
