J. S. Rose has shown that for each prime p (except \(p=3)\) there exist p- groups such that all extensions of them by a group of order p split. Here we determine all metacyclic p-groups with this property. As a corollary, it is seen that for each prime there exist finitely many groups enjoying this property.
