An alternate approach to results related to a paper of \textit{T. Shintani} [Tokyo J. Math. 3, 191-199 (1980; Zbl 0462.10014)] who showed that the Dedekind \(\eta\)-function and the theta function \(\vartheta_ 1\) could be decomposed in terms of the double gamma function and Stirling's modular form.
