As usual in mathematical textbooks the book is divided into the parts ``calculus'' and ``linear algebra''. The contents of both parts is common to what undergraduate students are expected to know about mathematics after a two terms course. In addition to these common fields the authors offer an introduction into selected topics of graduate courses in mathematics, namely into topology, differential calculus in \(\mathbb{R}^p\)-space, optimization, and a short introduction into fix point theorems. And it is for these additional and slightly advanced topics that the book sticks out from the huge bulk of already existing textbooks on mathematics for economists. In each chapter examples are given either to illustrate the concept in a more formal way or to present a numerical example how to use a definition or a formula. Furthermore, at the end of several chapters some exercises are collected, so the reader should be able to check himself whether he understood the material presented in the chapter or if some repetitions might be helpful.
