The textbook can be used as an introduction into the field of mathematics for business economists as well as for economists. It is written for undergraduates and, following the author, it covers the complete mathematical knowledge required for a study of economics, either as a Bachelor or as a master study. The book is divided into six major parts, starting with mathematical concepts and mathematical methods in the beginning. Proofs of theorems are given only if the author considers the proof as necessary in the sense of understanding further topics or if they help to improve the understanding of mathematical sentences. In all other cases the reader is referred to advanced mathematical textbooks. Furthermore, most chapters are augmented with economic applications to motivate the mathematics presented in this part of the book. After the introductory part the authors presents the basics about sequences and series, and continues to differential and integral calculus in part three. Linear equation systems are contained in part four. The final parts five and six are concerned with multidimensional differential calculus and linear algebra. The book presents a large number of graphical illustrations as well as practical solutions which enable the reader to understand the mathematical topics quite easily. The book contains a collection of formulas in the appendix as well as a short overview of higher level mathematical textbooks and exercises.
