A Floquet theory is presented for the stability of boundary layer flows. The spectrum of the governing differential operator is partially discrete and partially continuous, which is different from confined flows. However, no instabilities appear from the continuous part of the spectrum. The paper makes use of results from \textit{D. Henry} [Geometric theory of semilinear parabolic equations (1981; Zbl 0456.35001)].
