    The author continues the investigation of the Schur group of a commutative ring R which in a natural way, generalizes the notion of Schur group for a field. (The Schur group consists of all classes in the Brauer group of R which contain an image of a group ring RG for a finite group G.) Furthermore he introduces the Schur exponent. For a local or global field the Schur exponent equals the Schur index.
