Lie algebras (Q5903381)

This is a survey article on Lie algebras in which the author states his aim as being ''to capture aspects of the present moment, with most recent achievements, current directions in research, and problems of ongoing interest''. Classical results are mentioned briefly to serve as background for a discussion devoted primarily to current areas of research. The article is divided into sections devoted to the structure of finite- dimensional algebras, Lie algebras with a grading, universal enveloping algebras, and representations of complex semisimple Lie algebras. An extensive bibliography is included.
