As stated by the author in his preface, the difference between this and the fifth edition (Zbl 0869.54002) is naught but a few misprints. The book remains a welcome addition to any recommended reading list. Previous reviewers have noted (expressed regret) that certain topics were missing; in this I concur, especially with regard to Baire's category theorem and the topic of convergence in topological spaces. Previously reviewed editions: first German (Zbl 0448.54002) and English (Zbl 0567.54001).
