Let \(u\) be a map of a bounded open set of \(\mathbb R^n\) into \(\mathbb R^n\). The authors give several weak definitions of its Hessian determinants under the condition that \(u\) belongs to suitable Sobolev space by means of formal integration by parts. The continuity properties of weak Hessian determinants are investigated and a comparison with Hessian measure is provided.
