The book by Heidrun and Wolf-Gert Matthäus ``Mathematik für BWL-Bachelor'' serves as an undergraduate mathematical textbook for students of business economics at a Bachelor level. Written for this very specific group of readers and students it is one of the first textbooks in this field accounting for the recent and still ongoing restructuring process of the German university and graduate school landscape. The topics of the book cover calculus (two third of the book) and linear algebra (one third). And for both parts the themes covered by Matthäus are very elementary. Furthermore, any proofs of theorems are omitted throughout the book, instead the authors emphasize the usefulness of very detailed solutions of exercises to transmit the necessary tools and knowledge of basic mathematics to the reader. Roughly sixty percent of the material presented in the book covers topics which should already be known to students before they start their studies at a university or a business school. In this sense a lot of themes is just a repetition of high school mathematics.
