The author gives an easy proof of the following theorem. Let \(\mathcal H\) be a family of subgroups of \(G\) such that any generalized complex character of \(G\) is the sum of generalized characters induced from subgroups belonging to \(\mathcal H\). Then any elementary subgroup of \(G\) is contained in some conjugate of some subgroup belonging to \(\mathcal H\).
