The authors give a short survey of recent works on lateral-torsional buckling of composite strip- and \(I\)-beams. The purpose is to estimate new more general, asymptotically correct theories of composite \(I\)-beams and cantilevered beams, which describe the lateral-torsional stability, the effects of prebuckling deflections, and elastic coupling. As a result, the authors obtain an approximate closed-form solution for buckling load taking into account all these phenomena.
