The paper deals with the dynamic axisymmetric buckling of laminated thick spherical caps with radially orthotropic layers. It is assumed that the loading is a uniformly distributed step load. The authors use Marguerre type first-order shear deformation shell theory, and obtain static solution by orthogonal point collocation method. By using energy integral, an estimate of the maximum deflection is derived in the dynamic case. The results are illustrated with several calculations.
