Necessary conditions are given so that a positive linear operator \(A\) over \(C(S)\) (the Banach space of continuous maps \(f:S \to R\)) should have a periodic point of minimal period, \(m\). Under mild compactness assumptions upon \(A\), these conditions are also sufficient to guarantee the property in question.
