It is established the existence of nontrivial solutions for the nonlinear eigenvalue problem describing self-trapped transverse magnetic field modes in a cylindrical optical filter made from a self-focusing dielectric material. The main result of the paper points out that it is possible to have all the wavelengths within prescribed intervals. The approach relies on the Mountain Pass Theorem.
