The fluctuation splitting scheme of \textit{P. L. Roe} and \textit{D. Sildikover} [SIAM J. Numer. Anal. 29, No. 6, 1542-1568 (1992; Zbl 0765.65093)] is analyzed on triangular grids together with a kinetic approach to reduce the nonlinear conservation law to a linear equation. A convergence proof is given.
