The author continues his investigations on characteristic exponents presented in [Lower estimate for the minimal exponent of a three-dimensional system. Differ. Equations 35, No. 10, 1407-1417 (1999); translation from Differ. Kravn. 35, No. 10, 1387-1397 (1999; Zbl 0981.34033); ibid. No. 12, 1630-1637 (1999), and An upper estimate for the minimal exponent of a three-dimensional system. Differ. Equations 36, No. 1, 132-142 (2000); translation from Differ. Uravn. 36, No. 1, 114-123 (2000; Zbl 0983.34040)]. His main result consists in some relations (equalities of limits) characterizing the minimal exponent of a linear three-dimensional system. The paper can be understood only by means of the preceding papers.
