Linear, continuous-time, finite-dimensional control systems with constant coefficients are considered. Using algebraic methods and the concept of controllability, a sufficient condition for monotonic stability is formulated and proved. The role of a feedback-type control in stability problems is also discussed. Several remarks and comments on stability problems for linear control systems are presented. More details on the controllability problem discussed here can be found in the monograph [\textit{J. Klamka}, Controllability of dynamical systems, Kluwer Academic Publishers, Dordrecht, The Netherlands (1991; Zbl 0732.93008)].
