A tampered Brownian motion is a two-steps Brownian motion which is generated by a switch of the stress on a higher level. The properties of the maximum likelihood estimates of the parameters of the failure time distribution under the tampered Brownian motion are studied. An application to the evaluation of drug toxicity is shown in detail.
