When the fluctuations of various quantities characterizing the nucleus-nucleus collisions are considered, one faces a problem how to disentangle the `dynamical' fluctuations of interest form the trivial ones caused by the impact parameter variation. The so-called \(\Phi\)-measure, which has been introduced in the series of our papers, offers a solution to the problem. We discuss the NA49 measurement of \(p_T\)-fluctuations and show that the fluctuations in the central Pb-Pb collisions are mostly due to the quantum statistics of pions.
