Hyperplane sections of Kantor's unitary ovoids (Q5937086)

In this paper Kantor's unitary ovoids are constructed as a hyperplane section of an algebraic variety of \(PG(8,q)\), defined by a Segre variety of \(PG(8,q^2)\), the space \(PG(8,q^2)\) being associated with the vector space of \(3\times 3\) matrices over \(GF(q^2)\). The investigation is quite deep and carried on with algebraic techniques. Unfortunately, the involved algebraic variety of \(PG(8,q)\) is an element of a wide class defined and investigated by the reviewer in [\textit{G. Lunardon}, Geom. Dedicata 75, 245-261 (1999; Zbl 0944.51004)]. Therefore, there are many overlaps between this paper and Section 4 of the above mentioned paper by the reviewer.
