The authors consider initial-boundary value problems for a family of two hyperbolic conservation laws with relaxation. The relaxed system is a scalar conservation law with a nonconvex flux. The global existence of smooth solutions is proved under a subcharacteristic condition. Large time behavior reveals an asymptotic solution consisting of either one or two traveling waves, depending on boundary effects.
