The authors investigate Lévy processes on local fields in the (typical) example of \(p\)-adics. They show that the distribution of a Lévy process on the \(p\)-adics is the convolution of the distributions of a spherically symmetric, a totally non-spherically symmetric and a singular process. Then each of the single distributions is characterized further.
