The period-tripling accumulation point of the polynomial map \(z \to \lambda - z^2\) was discovered by Golberg, Sinai, and Khanin, and independently by Cvitanović and Myrheim in the early 80s. Using computer simulations, the authors discuss a phenomenon for a generalized map \(z \to \lambda - z^2 + \varepsilon \bar{z}\) which is non-analytic.
