Divisibility in the \(K_0\)-group of the algebra of operators on a Banach space (Q5938994)

For a certain Banach space \(X\) constructed by Figiel in 1972 it is shown that the \(K_{0}\)-group of the algebra of operators \(L(X)\) is fairly complicated in that it contains a subgroup isomorphic to the group of sequences of rational numbers that are eventually zero. (By contrast, for most classical spaces this group is trivial).
