Construction of doubly-periodic instantons (Q5940498)

Finite-energy instanton connections over a 4-dimensional space endowed with the Euclidean metric are constructed. Doubly-periodic instantons are introduced by performing a Nahm transform on certain singular Higgs pairs. The Hitchin's self-duality equations are written and certain singular solutions are described. A method of construction of doubly-periodic instantons is developed and some of the properties of the instantons are obtained. Finally, some remarks and open questions, like the existence of anti-self-dual connections with respect to the Euclidean metric, are presented.
