The goal of this book is to provide a mathematical and logical foundation for the specification and development of interactive systems. The book is structured into four main parts. Part 1 contains the introduction and a guided four in the method for the specification and stepwise development of interactive systems (called FOCUS). Part 2 of the book is devoted to defining and building up the mathematical machinery for reasoning about streams. In part 3 is introduced the different specification techniques and styles supported by FOCUS. Three basic concepts of refinement (behavioral, interface and conditional refinement) are introduced in the last part.
