The author presents a review and new proposals on the recognition and physical admissibility of curvature singularities in various field theories. Contents include: an introduction; background; motivating the criterion, (finite temperature, the Coulomb branch of \(N=4\) super Yang-Mills, asymptotics and phase transitions); examples, (one massive adjoint chiral, two massive adjoint chirals, three massive adjoint chirals); fluctuations; a discussion and appendix. The paper concludes with an eighty-seven item bibliography.
